Kampala tycoon Butto’s sh35million mobile phone mesmerized security operatives, leaving them agape!
The tycoon was among the four people who were arrested and tortured by security operatives over a corruption dossier that circulated over the social media, detailing corruption scandals involving the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Right Hon Anita Among.
Well, upon his arrest, Francis Matovu aka Butto, was asked to present his phone and he did so by presenting a small phone that looked like a ka-torch, but was accessorized with gold. The operatives then barked at the tycoon, saying the ka-torch was not enough. “We need a phone not this Ka-torch! One of the operatives shouted.
A call from some bosses saved the tycoon. After a surprise call, the operatives were let to know that Tycoon Butto’s phone was a virtual satellite phone, worth sh35mikllion.
It should be remembered that Tycoon Butto and three others including two journalists Moses Mugalula and Pidson Kareire, and the National Unity Platform (NUP) Mobilizer for Eastern Region, Moses Bigirwa; were detained incognito and beyond 48 hours before they were arraigned to Buganda Road Court. They were later charged with Offensive Communication and Criminal Libel.
However, the document/dossier/intelligence gathering that brought trouble to the four bonafide Ugandans, is official and the IGG, Betty Namisango Kamya, told journalists that a whistleblower had served the IGG office with the document, which highlighted corruption scandals, which involved Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
Apparently, the Tycoon and the three others, are preparing a suit that will take individual participants in this saga. This includes those who did illegal arrest, incognito detention and the torture. All the four have sustained serious torture marks, which The Drone Media has seen and documented.
Lastly, The Drone Media has learnt that the group that arrested Tycoon Butto, stole his money that was in the car. As a tycoon he moves with loads of money. So if they managed to recover a phone from him, where is the receipt for his money?
