HYPERTENSION HITS DETAINED RWENZURURU ROYAL GUARDS

On Wednesday (24/10/2018), a team from Rwenzori decided to pay a courtesy visit to the detained Rwenzururu royal guards at Jinja main prison , Kirinya.
However, the state with which they reportedly found their incarcerated comrades; as in health wise, put a shiver along their spine.

Mbu what was found at Kirinya prison was an outbreak of hypertension with a whooping number of 41 royal guards complaining of this related condition with 26 of them on medication already and 11 were admitted and cannulated at the prison health facility.

Hypertension is a lethal medical condition normally associated with high blood pressure and usually caused by stress, anxiety and depression. patients with this condition stand a risk of developing both heart and mental complications which may worsen the situation making it lethal.

Speaking to one of their prison nurses, she revealed to the press that most of them are visibly depressed, stressed and in deep thoughts which finally has caused them into sudden illnesses that they are highly suspecting to be hypertension because both their blood pressure levels and the pulse rate were abnormally high.

Speaking to the appointed incarcerated royal guards leader by the prison authorities a one Mumbere Edwin, he said that the causes for the depression and stress of these people are not the same but gave reasons ranging from lack of knowledge of the steps being taken to rescue them from prison, the news of their children who are dropping out of school everyday, the news of their wives who are getting married to other men, the thought of having lost touch with their families etc.
But he said most importantly is the fact that they no longer know what is happening with their case.

Those who were admitted among others were, Kighoma Abbas Kairumba, Mbusa Nicodemus, Bwambale Kisunzu, Bwambale Bloody, Sunday Bagenda, Bikona Daniel, Kibonge, Bwambale Samson, Kabugho Jacklin, Rugheya Geoffrey, Mukuhi Hezekiah.
While Masika Jolly and a one Comu were transferred to Luzira because their health conditions had totally deteriorated and could no longer be handled by the Kirinya health team.

It was observed that ladies were better off than men health wise and it was surprising that a one Sonderya Ezekiel who is now 88years was very healthy.

But even with the seemingly health challenges, the Bakhonzo were still in high spirits and strong with a big hope that they will be released.
