Over 5000 Ugandans cheated through an online dating scam, they include bank tellers

By Drone Reporters

A romance scam, also known as an online dating scam, is when a person is tricked into believing they’re in a romantic relationship with someone they met online. In fact, their “other half” is a cybercriminal using a fake identity to gain enough of their victim’s trust to ask — or blackmail — them for money.

Now, The Drone Media has established that  over 5000 Ugandans have been scammed through an online dating scam. These ungodly smart dealers in and outside Uganda have been conning lovers through online dating with ease.  The most vivid example was in the Financial Trust Bank, whereby a one Katushabe gave $20,000 (about sh73m) to an online boyfriend after he promised heaven on earth as he pretended to be on a business trip in China.

Scammers take advantage of people looking for romantic partners, often via dating websites, apps or social media by pretending to be prospective companions. They play on emotional triggers to get you to provide money, gifts or personal details.

Another example is from Mbarara City, this guy specialized in cybercrime; he invested in this business and targets female corporate workers, who are love -starved.  Gilbert bought a sleek car and rents in an upscale Nkokonjeru suburb. He bagged his home with camera and reserved one room as his control centre.  The décor of the house captivates hearts of emotional females so that whenever he beguiles them to escort him to the house they rarely object. As you know whenever women or girls go out they will have to visit washrooms.  Shockingly, in his bathrooms there are cameras, which capture whatever takes place there.  Once pictures are taken, he uses them as ransom for money from women.
