A UGANDAN PASTOR HAS TAKEN ETIHAD AIRWAYS TO COURT OVER LOST BAGGAGE

Pastor Tumusiime Humble Abel who is attached to State House has served Etihad Airways with notice to sue if the airways does not recover his baggage that he lost when he travelled in Flight No. EY 646.

The Ugandan Pastor, represented by Niwagaba & Mwebesa Advocates, claims that on the Jully1, 2016 while he was a passenger of Etihad Airways, he checked at Entebbe International Airport in respect of flight No. EY 646 with baggage in a bag which was lost.

Pastor Tumusiime further claims that he lost a laptop(Dell), camera, clothes (suits, shirts & pairs of trousers), belts, jackets and shoes among others upon arrival at Mumbai Airport. He was made to file a complaint with Etihad Airways offices and the airline undertook to bring the baggage within two days.

“Todate our client is surprised that the same has not been delivered to him. Our client was inconvenienced during his stay in Andrapradesh, India where he spent about a fortnight and forced to borrow to purchase items for his upkeep not to mention the debts he incurred,” states the document by Niwagaba & Mwebesa Advocates.

By this letter, Pastor Tumusiime is hereby affording a notice to pay $17,000 being the cash which was in the bag plus the items mentioned or their value estimated at sh11m (Eleven million shillings). The above mentioned amount is expected to be paid within 7 days of the receipt of the letter, short of which the Ugandan Pastor shall be constrained to bring a suit against Etihad Airways.
