KMP defies DPP on orders of a city land grabber

As land grabbing continues to hurt innocent Ugandans, police is accused of engineering the illicit deals. A visible example occured yesterday when KMP police officers defied DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) on orders of a city land grabber.

The story is that a city land grabber, who has amassed wealth by selling wetlands to gullible customers, attempted to grab land that belongs to Dr. Kaggwa Apollo, which is in Kajjansi, but met resisted from the doctor.

He thereafter, subsquently used police to harrass Dr. Kaggwa Apollo a bonafide owner of the land that consists of a forest in Kajjansi.  The land grabber opened a General Inquiry File (GEF)  at Kampala Metropolitan Police office (KMP GEF 037/2022, which he wanted to use in justification of illegal arrests.

Dr. Kaggwa Apollo learnt of the police game and lodged a complaint to the DPP, who promptly responded by calling the police file. However, police defied the calling letter by DPP and raided Dr. Kaggwa Apollo’s home looking for him as if he was on a murder case!

According to the letter signed by Asst DPP Catherine Namakoye on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions, referrenced to RKP/May/12/2022 a reference was made to KMP GEF/037/2022 case file. The DPP stated her office was in receipt of a calling letter in respect of the case file from Head Office.

She therefore asked KMP police to urgently forward the police file for onward submission to the Head Office.  Surprisingly, yesterday police moved on two Pick Up Trucks full to the brim and armed to the teeth and raided Dr. Kaggwa Apolo’s home.

This is when you ask yourself a question, ” DPP and Police, who supervises the other? Secondly, what is the mandate of Police? Then, in this case has police done its mandate? However, nobody
