Man killed in Katwe, Kampala
Police in Katwe are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man at Kategura Zone in Makindye Division, Kampala.
According to the police report filed at Katwe Police Station, on Sunday night, a group of unidentified people went to the residence of Ssazi, broke into his house and strangled him.
The report further states that the intruders later tied him up with a belt, cut off his head and went away with four flat screen TV sets and other items.
Abel Kintu, a security guard at the building next to the crime scene, said at around 1am, he saw a black Toyota Harrier vehicle parked at the salon of the deceased but he thought it was his boss’ car since she drove a similar car.
A source at Katwe Police Station told the press that while they were viewing the CCTV footage, they saw a black vehicle suspected to have been used by the killers.
Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson, said when police received information, a team of detectives visited the scene and took the body away for post-mortem.
“We have recorded the statement of the owner of the salon, Jovia Nanziiri, to help us in our investigations,” Owoyesigire said.
About 10 people have been killed in about two months in a spate of murders in and around the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Since October last year, the bodies of victims have been found dumped in areas not far from residential areas of the city. “What is surprising is that all murder cases are traced, but it hurts when some murderers go scot free,” says John Bajjo, a resident at Katwe-Kibuye.
