Uhuru opens another fast eatery branch

Salim aka Uhuru is a master of food. The prolific pilau cook, recently opened another fast eatery branch on Luwum Street.

The Uhuru Restaurant on Luwun Street, is in the newly constructed building that faces the Old Park on the western side.

When seated at Uhuru Restaurant on Luwum Street, you easily and freely capture the aerial view of Kampala city. This is because it is positioned on the second floor of this new building.

The gentle breeze that soothes you as you partake the delicious pilau of the expert cook, is another advantage of this venue over the rest.

Uhuru as he is fondly referred to by his clients as well as peers, boasts of inherited blood of cooking. He inherited cooking from his father who proudly says he cooked pilau at independence day. This is 1962.

By the way, this is not an advert but a food guide. Anyway, the price is still the same. Chicken with pilau and extras costs sh8,000 while dip fried fish served with pilau and other foods costs sh10,000. The drink ranges from sh2500 to shsh3500 but soft drinks cost sh1500.

As a norm at Uhuru Restaurant the waitresses and waiters always observe humility and customer care is their disease. They politely ask you if they can serve you and if you still need time to organise your pockets they won’t harass you like many do in Kampala.

The construction of the building favours the restaurant. Its floor is covered by first class tiles, which helps it to ever shine and no need to cover it with carpets.

Although Uhuru Restaurant is known for pilau, it has a multi- cuisine that is served at any time of the day. If you come in the morning, you will be served what is locally known as katogo( mixture of food), but still pilau is available.
