Hon Agnes Kunihira exhibits political maturity at the launch of her manifesto 2021-2026

Hon. Abwoli Kunihira Agnes has, today 11th January, 2021, launched her manifesto 2021-2026  at Hotel Africana. The function that attracted all members of Workers Unions and non-unionized members was in Nile Hall; the Hotel Africana’s biggest hall.

The amiable incumbent female member of parliament exhibited political maturity. Hon. Agnes Kunihira invited all the aspiring workers MP candidates and allowed them to campaign.  She also invited her fellow incumbent MPs and gave them the platform to campaign. This act of political maturity earned Agnes Kunihira rounds of applause.

Kunihira, whose slogan is “Promoting Workers’ Agenda; has added a catch word to her name, which is “OmuBwati.” At the launch she served a bouquet; gave a copy of manifesto; a copy of 2021 Diary;  a copy of The Employment (Amendment) Bill, 2019 a pen and a handkerchief to each person who attended the launch. She also refunded their transport, irrespective of where they came from.

Kunihira highlighted her achievements in line with the roles of the member of parliament, which included The Employment Amendment Bill, 2019; NSSF Amendment Bill 2019; labour disputes ( Arbitration and Settlement Amendment Bill 2019; the Anti-slavery Bill 2018; Women Entrepreneurship Projects and capacity building for  Labour Unions.

Many leaders of various unions testified that Kunihira put much effort in capacity building in such unions. Stephen Ouma Bwire, General Secretary of  Uganda Journalists Union (UJU) testified that Kunihira bought computers and the printer in the UJU. Ouma also added that she funded the Workers Eye Magazine which is published by UJU.

“Consultation of workers has been at the forefront of my agenda, which I have been able to achieve. I still promise to continue consulting workers from the two centres for purposes of unity and promoting the labour movement,” Kunihira asserted.
