How the journalist Hadad Mubiru met his death

By Our Reporter

My late friend and comrade, Hadad Mubiru a look easy but underground investigative journalist was out of my sight for about a month.

But on Saturday morning he called my phone showering me with greetings and joking how I was very silent.
For I had not asked him for any story of various happenings from murders, violence, ghetto or politics as sometimes I do and some other editors and media people to boost their info basket.

Mubiru who never feared anything in investigating knew quiet many big shots and it was upon his bosses to siege all but even inside stories he hawked about.

Some sections believe his death may be the reward of many things though he again loved the bottle a little too much becoming an easy prey to related circumstances .

And that’s why friends and foes are questioning his death in equal terms.
The news of his demise Sunday evening was equally a suspect with some saying he had been shot, tortured or hit with a hummer and etc. However Uganda Police finally said the former Red Pepper journalist was found dead and his body recovered in Kanyanya, a city suburb, on Sunday night with some wounds.

Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, said that Mubiru, who was also working with BTM TV, was seen a few hours prior to his death crawling.

“One of the people in the area the police talked told us that at around 8:00Pm the deceased was seen crawling near the house and they took him for a wrong element only to find him the following day.

But city lawyer, Nkunyingi Muwada, said Mubiru had been a very instrumental and investigative journalist.
He was known for reporting about National political activities and the Presidential Petition case that was last week filed by former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. Mubiru was laid to rest in Ndese, Bugerere in Kayunga district today, Monday afternoon as investigations continue.
