Isingiro district is alleged to have masterminded rigging

The towering aging minister from Isingiro district is alleged to have masterminded rigging in two constituencies of Isingiro District, which include Isingiro North and Bukanga North.

Rwamirama has been on loggerheads with the current LC V Chairperson, Jeremiah Kamurari, who he refers to as a madman. The two district bigwigs reportedly exchanged verbal arteries, which left deep wounds itched on their hearts.

Sources in Isingiro District told The Drone Media that Kamurari one time told the locals that the foot and mouth disease that had become an excuse in the area was only in the minister’s head and mind. Otherwise, there was no foot and mouth disease in the area. Kamurari said the disease was being used by the minister to quarantine people’s animals while he sold his. This, reportedly hurt the minister, who fought Kamurari to date.

Rwamirama is said to have used his influence to manipulate the elections of Isingiro North and Bukanga North. Sources in Bukanga told The Drone Media that while presiding over a function in Ngarama Sub-county; Rwamirama told the residents, ” Haza mutaturetera omu paramenti ogwo omugwiraro wanyu Kamurari ( meaning, make sure that you don’t  elect that madman Kamurari as your Member of Parliament).

Rwamirama’s word seems to have been fulfilled as NRM Primaries elections in Bukanga North and Isingiro North took a similar turn. They were dominated by violence masterminded by army men and other security operatives. Besides, the minister is said to have called Nathan Byanyima to join him at the district headquarter to declare themselves before the returning officer.

Jeremiah Kamurari and and another candidate Paul Sabiti, have since petitioned the electoral commission. In Isingiro North Ponsiano Mugyenyi had also petitioned and the commission, basing on evidence, has cancelled the results.
