Mafia era in Uganda

By Drone Reporter

The term Mafia in Uganda is today synonymous with illegal deals; treachery and betrayal etc, but the actual meaning is: “A mafia is a type of organized crime syndicate whose primary activities are protection racketeering, arbitrating disputes between criminals, and brokering and enforcing illegal agreements and transactions.”

You can know mafia by the activities surrounding their daily works.  Last month, July 2021,  the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja was made to step out of the Military chopper as a blue empty crate of soda awaited her to land safely on the ground.  You wonder what was behind that. Yet in the same month, an Army General was welcomed in a different style.

In the same month the Commander of the Land Forces of the NRA Gen Muhooza Keinerugaba  visited the gallant soldiers who defeated the CODECO rebels who had attacked the Zeu Barracks in Zombo District.
Gen Muhoozi thanked the soldiers for putting up a Spirited fight to defeat the enemie. Gen Muhoozi said that the Army will continue to hunt down the criminals and all those were involved are going to regret their actions. Gen Muhoozi also said that the families of the heroes who died are going to be compensated for the loss of their beloved ones. Gen Muhoozi added that no one is going to disturb the peace of Uganda and that no one will ever take power by force when the NRM is still in power.

The question is, where was the ladder for the chopper The Right Hon Prime Minister flew in? Well, The Mafia, at its core, is about one thing: money. Throughout its history, the Mafia has controlled everything from the street-corner drug trade to the highest levels of government. Its members operate outside the law, yet become accepted and sometimes feared parts of the neighborhoods and cities they inhabit. Glorified by movies and television, hounded by law enforcement, marked for death by their enemies, these mobsters live violent and often brief lives. The Mafia is, in its own right, a family. To become a family member means to accept secret rituals, complicated rules and tangled webs of loyalty. Those who run afoul of the family risk being ostracized … and worse. Many mobsters who have turned against the Mafia have met an untimely, often gruesome death.
