New facts on Kabalagala accident

The deceased, driver of the Benz that was involved in the Kabalagala accident is a relative of former Minister Paul Etyang from Tororo, Mela subcounty.

However, witnesses say this was not an accident. It was a case of suicide and attempted murder. The driver committed suicide and attempted to murder the co driver.
“How can anyone be cruising at that speed in that area at any one time? This is the stupidity I am always talking about. It is inexcusable. It looks like the man even had no identification on him. This is irresponsible. Where did he get the Benz? Most Benz drivers are responsible mature people,” a one Mugerwa Anold asserts.
Another witness questions, “RIP . But which speed was that to be honest, that’s a very busy road where you can’t even go beyond 50 km / hr. Let’s have discipline on the road and also respect other road users.”

“The Co-driver can tell you who the driver was. Uganda Police and politics will not help us. And next time learn to cover the number plate and protect people’s identity. It’s not the public’s work to investigate cases but yours,” says Bruce.

According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson, the accident occured at 0339/C , which is 3:39am according to geographical time. Surprisingly, she reported at 4:30pm, this time from 3am to 4pm was enough to settle down and give us a good write up. There are too many mistakes in the statement.  Nampiima could not identify the deceased, who supposedly had a driving permit.
Police statement reads, “The Traffic police in Kabalagala has today 15th.March 2023, at around 0339/C registered a fatal accident at Kabalagala Police Station along Gabba Road.
The accident involved motor vehicle registration number UBG 811C (Mercedes Benz). Its alleged that driver (yet to be identified) who died on spot, was driving from Gabba side heading to Kampala on a high speed, but failed to negotiate the corner at Kabalagala Police Station, lost control, hit parked vehicles at the Station, killing him instantly and seriously injuring the co-driver.
The body of the of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem examination while the injured victim is admitted at Nsambya Hospital for treatment. Imagine!
