Kale Kayihura insists on meeting President Museveni

When Kale was still a good cadre

Former IGP Kale Kayihura has reportedly refused to record any statement without meeting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“I will record statements after I have met President Museveni,” Kale Kayihura told the interogators.

A snoop at Makindye Military Baracks where former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura is incarcerated told this site that the former top cop was still hesitant to make any statement and insisted on talking to the president before he could reveal anything.

It is not clear what the disgraced general intends to speak with the president about now that he could not say when he still had unlimited access as the IGP.

However, well placed sources intimate that the army is running out of patience and intends to use all tactics on Kayihura to extort information out of him. His request is still being denied by the authorities as the once flamboyant seasoned general faces charges that could range from murder, espionage, abuse of office, kidnap and extra-judicial killings.

“We allowed Kayihura one phone for receiving calls from his lawyers and his close relatives but not to call. He has persistently requested that he first be allowed to talk to the president and our view is that it is not currently possible for he had time to talk to him before, but he never utilised the chance,” a source at Makindye reveals.

Kayihura was reportedly fished out of a car boot as he attempted to escape on the day that he was arrested. A thing he will be tasked to explain to the authorities.

It is said that as soon as he got to know that Abiriga had been murdered Kayihura knew his days were close. And even if he gets to meet the president one question still stands “why was he trying to flee and why had he gotten in contact with an unnamed general from Rwanda at the time of capture?”.

Perhaps he already had known the troubles at hand owing to his tainted record as IGP. With his inner circle slowly but steadily crushed the once blue-eyed boy of the president remains all but alone.
