” I am very pleased to inform you that the expert physicians working on me have successfully restored my eye-sight. I won’t have to use the glasses anymore! I am now praying for the total recovery of functionality of my legs in a month’s time as promised by a podiatric physician,” Hon Zaake posted on his twitter handle.

However, Zaake has not yet regained functionality of his legs, but he says his podiatric physician promised it to him in a month’s time.

Hon Zaake has been arrested on four occasions, he claims on all the occasions, the Mityana Municipality legislator was turned into a punching bag of sorts.

Zaake first tasted the wrath of the security officers in 2018 in Arua, where he and his fellow Jew (Bobi Wine)   reportedly stoned one of the president’s cars; smashing the hind screen.

Zaake was again arrested and detained at the Central Police Station in Kampala in 2019. According to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Grace Akullo, Zaake had jumped a police bond which was granted to him in a previous year, after being charged with treason and unlawful escape from police custody.

In 2020, the year of COVID-19, Hon Zaake was again beaten. The Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Jeje Odongo explained to the parliament circumstances under which the Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was beaten in police custody.

Zaake had been transferred from Kiruddu Hospital to Rubaga Hospital for treatment following an alleged torture. The transfer followed an outcry from his family about the MP’s deteriorating health.

The MP was arrested in April for allegedly distributing food to his constituents contrary to a Presidential directive that all relief food should be handed to Covid-19 National Task Force.

The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Kadaga said she was concerned about the MP’s situation. “He was beaten and battered, he told me that pepper spray was sprayed directly into his eyes, he was in police custody for several days and they must account for his injuries. This is a violation of human rights and I think really it’s unacceptable,” said Kadaga.
