Over 200m raised for Merryland

Kanungu was well represented at a fundraisng function held in Kibale district, Buyanja County, at Merryland High School, Nyamarunda C.O.U.

The District Chairperson Eng. Sam Kajojo, Asiimwe Moses Twaha Managing Director Ishasha Ventures, Mbabazi Emmy and his wife Charity Mbabazi represented Kanungu people.

Eng. Sam Kajojo applauded Hon. Martia Kasaija  the minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development for his visit in Kanungu last year on 26.Nov.2021.

The minister’s visit reportedly yielded a lot in changing Kanungu economies; people are now empowered especially in Coffee and Tea sector. Kanungu managed to access a lot of inputs from the government. In health sector the hospital was on the verge of collapsing, but now the renovation and expansion of Kambuga Hospital which the minister had promised to handle is starting soon and will be beneficial for Kigezi region that is Kanungu, Rukungiri, Rukiga and Rubanda.

” The few Kanungu people I have managed to access have given me sh1,000,000 as a contribution, the Bishop of the diocese of Kinkiizi has also given me sh1,000,000 Moses Twaha has also contributed sh1,000,000  Speaker of Kanungu Byaruhanga Frank sh500,000, and your friend Hajj. Kanyesigye Silagi 10 bags of cement (sh350,000) this contribution from Kanungu is a support of the construction of Merryland High Hchool,” Eng. Sam said.

He thanked the people of Buyanja County for voting for the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Hon. Martia Kasaijja.

Speaking at the same function, which is the construction of a multi-purpose classroom block for Merryland High School, run by the Church of Uganda in Kibale District the Vice President Jessica Alupo said religious institutions have been instrumental in the molding of society and provision of moral guidance to ensure social stability and economic empowerment.

She thanked the organizers of the fundraising specifically Bunyoro- Kitara Kingdom and the diocese  that was represented by Bishop Samuel Kahuma for setting aside this day to specifically thank God, but also used resources to enhance the establishment of education infrastructure.

She called upon all the people of Bunyoro to continue supporting education by sending all children to school who include boys and girls even children with disabilities.

She thanked the people of Bunyoro for preserving and protecting the environment and urged them to continue planting trees to avert the devastating effects of global warming.

Hon. Martia Kasaijja Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development who is also area member of parliament thanked the Vice President for accepting his invitation to come to Kibaale District to promote education in Bunyoro sub- region and for contributing 30millions towards the cause.

The minister contributed 70M towards the construction of the multi-purpose classroom blocks and urged parents to educate their children without discrimination.

Bishop Samuel Kahuma of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, rallied the people for greater development and called upon believers to continue the cycle of giving which was started by forefathers.

Bishop informed the Vice President that their members of Parliament and other leaders had so far raised Ugx63m out of the estimated Ugx 215 and now 200million has been raised which is a very great achievement.
