Social Media kills Governor Bank of Uganda, Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile
Some members of the Social Media this evening circulated sad but fake news that the Governor Bank of Uganda, who is admitted at Nakasero Hospital, had passed on.
A family source has told The Drone Media that the sick Mutebile is still alive. He called upon the public to disregard the information circulating on social media that he had passed on .
Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has been diagnosed at Nakasero Hospital, Kampala with an arterial blood clot.
A close family source revealed that the longest-serving BoU Governor was supposed to be airlifted to the United Kingdom for specialized medical treatment but due to Coronavirus pandemic, he decided to have his medical operation at Nakasero Hospital because his health had started deteriorating.
BoU had planned to hire a private jet to fly Mr. Mutebile to London but the coronavirus situation in Europe could not let him risk traveling as the world is still struggling with this deadly disease.

“BoU Governor Prof. Mutebile took sick leave on Wednesday March 25, 2020. He is receiving treatment in a Ugandan medical facility and will resume duty as soon as he has recuperated. Strongly disregard the false and malicious stories of his passing,” Dr. Adam Mugume, Executive Director Research, Bank of Uganda, explained.
“Governor had a successful operation at Nakasero Hospital and is currently recovering very well. Doctors have advised him to take long rest and restrict a lot of people from visiting him,” a family source said.
Ever since the year began, Mr Mutebile’s health has not been up to the standard and he has been scarce on several important public functions.
The rumors on social media that the governor Bank of Uganda passed on, were bashed by Dr Ben Mbonye, who confirmed that Bank of Uganda governor, Tumusiime-Mutebile, was recovering rapidly and was able to sit and talk! Dr. Mbonye assuredly said he would be discharged in a day or two! He asserted that the rumors on social media about his health were false!
The false news of Prof. Mutebile’s health and death, caused too much anxiety. However, it has been ably counteracted.
