Police in Kla hunts for mobile money fraudster

Telecommunication Company MTN Uganda has mounted a search for a mobile money fraudster, who attempted to withdraw shs.7, 980,000 from one of their subscribers
Recently sports analyst Aldrine Nsubuga senior said he survived losing his saving to a mobile money agent, who attempted to withdraw his money without his consent
This forced Nsubuga to launch a formal complaint to the company and asked them to investigate who was behind this attempted fraud
In a recent facebook post, Nsubuga applauded the company for taking action against the person who tampered with his account
“The culprit was identified as one of their merchants. Action immediately taken was deactivate merchant code to disable his activity, file a police case and handle as criminal case. The thieving merchant is currently on the run but police in pursuit,” he said in a long Facebook post
He said that Investigations are still going on regarding how the culprits were able to get real time visibility of his account balances and said that no MTN staff has been found to be either guilty or as an accomplice as investigations Continue.
“The Company has decided to launch a public fraud awareness campaign to sensitize the public on the dos and dont’s through strategic partnership with the media,’’ he said
He applauded the company for writing about the vice
“I am happy that through my whistle blowing a lot of customers money could have been saved and the steps being taken will prevent such cases from happening again,” he added.
