TWO DIE ON KAMPALA- GULU HIGHWAY ACCIDENT

By Correspondent

Police in Matugga say a speeding Toyota Harrier car, whose registration number plate was not easily identified, knocked a bodaboda on Kampala-Gulu highway, killing two people.

The dead are Abdul Kasirye and Ali Ssenyange all residents of Luwero, who were travelling on the bodaboda. The accident occurred on Wednesday (March 10, 2021) morning at Kigoogwa, in Wakiso district, when the speeding car squeezed the bodaboda between parked vehicles and caused death of the two.

Rescuers called police but by the time the Police arrived, the two had died. Joseph Ssenkumba, the chairman of the area where the accident occurred based the increased number of accidents in the area on a construction company whose heavy trucks park on the roadside, making it difficult for road users.

He said that they requested authorities some time back to construct humps that would help drivers to reduce the speed but all in vain as nothing has been done. Police from Matugga have taken the bodies to Mulago hospital for postmortem.
