Jujju burn Nurse and Patient to death in an Ambulance

Shock engulfed nation as Jujju burnt nurse and patient in an ambulance enroute Kiruddu Referral Hospital in Kampala.

Police has confirmed this incident. According to police, saying it was recorded as single traffic fatal accident at Kicucu Zone, Kicucu Ward/Nyakigumba Town Council, Bunyangabu Town Council in Bunyangabu District.

Police says that on 11/05/2022 at about 1545/c (3:45pm) in the above address along Kasese- Fort portal road a single fatal accident of motor vehicle reg. No. UG 4191 M Toyota Landcruiser Ambulance belonging to Uganda Government attached to Bwera Hospital got a mechanical problem and caught fire, which burnt two occupants to death beyond recognition

OBSERVATIONS
According to police, the cause of fire was  an oxygen cylinder which was in the ambulance serving a patient referred to Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala from Kasese Hospital. There were six occupants in the Ambulance.

The patient had been referred to the hospital because of kidney related complications. The following people were burnt and died on spot:

01. Asaba Robert a male aged 52 years old Peasant resident of Hamukungu Village Kahendero Parish Katwe Sub County Kasese District.(Patient)

02. Baluku Peter aka Stout male aged 41 years old Enrolled Nurse at Bwera Hospital
and the injured are:

01. Kabarisa Jane Female aged 42 years old and sister to Asaba Robert.
02. Masereka Zamari male aged 41 years old and Driver to the Ambulance
03. Bagaya Garvin Female aged 25 years old and daughter to Asaba Robert.
The trio were in the front cabin
04. Kabahuma Donah female aged 27 years old and relative to Asaba Robert. He was with the patient and nurse in the behind cabin and is nursing serious burnt wounds and all are admitted at Buhinga Hospital.

The duo died instantly because fire began from their side and spread out.
All the victims apart from the driver are related and from the same village.

Police Action
Scene visited by Police Officers from Bunyangabu District and documented.
Fire and Rescue Services from Rwenzori Region came and extinguished fire though the motor vehicle had been burnt beyond repair.
Victims were evacuated from the scene and transferred to Buhinga Hospital for Medical attention.
Dead bodies were taken to hospital for postmortem. Inquiries are ongoing.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Police says there should be an expert opinion inquiry to ascertain the cause of the fire outbreak on the vehicle. The victims who survived should be interviewed about what transpired.
