Why Derrick Kakooza signed for club ENPPI

Egyptian Premier League outfit ENPPI completed the signing of Ugandan striker Derrick Kakooza on a free transfer

Kakooza went to Egypt after terminating his contract with Latvia’s Valmiera football club

Kakooza has been one of Uganda’s top goal scorers in recent years.

The 20-year-old was the top scorer of the 2021 U20 African Cup of Nations after scoring five goals, guiding the Carnes to a historic silver medal in their first-ever appearance in the competition.

Derrick Kakooza (born 23 October 2002) is a Ugandan professional footballer who was born and raised in Kampala

He started his career with the Naguru Police Academy, before joining Police Kampala.

Having been promoted to the first team with Police, his impressive performances in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations linked him with a move to Belgian side Anderlecht.

His league performances were also good, scoring eight goals in eighteen games across two seasons.

After the move to Anderlecht fell through, Kakooza completed a move to Latvian side Valmiera in early 2022 from Police FC.

Kakooza has been ENPPI’s fourth signing in the January transfer window of 2023

Under the guidance of Tala’at Youssef, ENPPI seeks to improve their sixteenth place in the Egyptian Premier League, as they fight against their first relegation since getting promoted in 2002.

ENPPI Sporting Club simply known as ENPPI, is an Egyptian football club based in Cairo that competes in the Egyptian Premier League.

The club is related to ENPPI (Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries), which was established in 1978.

The 2022–23 ENPPI SC season is the club’s 38th season in existence and the 21st consecutive season in the top flight of Egyptian football. In addition to the domestic league, ENPPI will participate in this season’s editions of the Egypt Cup and the EFA Cup.
