By Angela Nyakuni

In every Presidential Address on Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) there is always a savior. You remember during the past lockdowns and consequent Presidential Addresses how Hon Amelia Kyambadde fought hard for traders and other vulnerable Ugandans?

This time around, Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja intervened to save Boda Boda riders from the wrath police officers. Towards the end of his speech, President Museveni said, ” The Prime Minister has whispered something into my ears about Boda Bodas. I understand there are so many piki piki at various police station, which were confiscated during curfew.  We are Christians, let us forgive the boys. After all they have suffered economically. I now direct that police release those boda bodas………..”

That is how the Rt Hon Nabanja saved the boda boda riders. President Museveni gave them amnesty . No fines or bribes from riders.

President Yoweri Museveni has pardoned all of them in the country who flouted Covid-19 curfew guidelines.
Police has been instructed to release immediately all motor bikes they impounded from riders and have been piled at various police stations.

The biggest number of motor bikes is in Kampala. Policemen who were planning to reap big from the boda boda riders, can now go back to the drawing board. The President has foiled boda boda’s unfair treatment.
