Many have never seen him. But they have heard about this 93-year-old braggart from Ankole. Mention Rushambuza and people in Ankole will know who you are talking about.

Canon Zabron Rushambuza, the famous businessman and prominent church leader from Ntungamo village in Bushenyi District was admitted to Kampala Hospital in Kololo in June, 2020.

Canon Rushambuza was evacuated to Kampala on June 15 in a critical condition and was since  taken into Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a private wing at the facility.

A relative who asked not to be named said the ageing church leader was ill for quite sometime and had been receiving treatment in Kampala before he was taken back to his upcountry residence when rumors spread like wildfire that he had passed on.

Rushambuza:
He is known for his humour and bragging. He reportedly said, “I built a flat above a police post so I could pee on them (Banteganisa Mbanyarire).”
Mbu he went to Bushenyi and Ishaaka stages asked whoever was a muyaaye ( a lumpen) to board his truck (he told them he had organised a feast at his home) once he got home he called his wife in Runyankole, ” mukyara ija oreebe Abayaaye ( My wife come and see how lumpens look like).
The story has it that Mrs Rushambuza had asked her husband who were the Abayaaye and how did they look like. Therefore, Mr. Rushambuza wanted to show his wife the Abayaaye.
Locals say that Canon Rushambuza later  warned the wife never  to give birth to such kinds of human beings. And today he has died a very proud man. (One of the sons is the owner of Quality Supermarkets, the one Apollo and Obadiah one of the first people to open a forex bureau along Entebbe road.
Many Christians in his church will live to tell his humorous and braggartory testimonies.
