Uganda Police harvesting money using COVID-19 mask excuse

The situation at Katwe Police entrance

By Staff Reporter

Uganda Police is harvesting money using the COVID-19 excuse The Drone Media has established. As you read this, individuals are being ruffled up by police officers over wearing of masks.

“It is not bad but the way officers are handling people is hurting! They pounce  on them before ruffling as if they are criminals. Police fail to protect us from thugs, but they behave as if they are protecting us from COVID-19. No way, they are making money,” said Nalubwama Scovia at a restaurant near Katwe Police Station.

At Katwe Police Station’s reception there is too much congestion; they have brought many mask-suspects, yet not wearing masks. One is likely to contract the virus at that station.

Well, this well orchestrated deal, The Drone Media has established, was hatched by one officer at Kampala’s Central Police Station (CPS). This was yesterday (Thursday) December 10, 2020 when he first bought 100 masks at sh10,000 and got sh1 million out of them in 4 hours.  He bought each at sh1000 and sold each at sh10,000 making sh1million from his package of 100 masks.

The Drone Media has established that by the end of yesterday, the officer at CPS had made sh5 millions out of masks. This secret was later hatched to colleagues in other stations, who have picked.

However, the concept has changed its originality. It has become an extortion exercise. At Katwe Police Station a police officer arrests from the road and as you walk towards the reception you negotiate your way out and he/she leaves you to go and buy a mask. Unfortunately, as you comeback at the gate, other officers who had seen you being arrested signal you for a re-arrest.

Common man needs help, this situation leads to desperate measures. It is only the powerful or rich who can survive. Leaders should help the subjects.
