Christmas well received in Masaka

This year, Masaka celebrated Christmas in style. In fact, the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was well received.

While most Ugandans purchased expensive Christmas trees to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the creative activists in Masaka provided a contumacious political Christmas tree of sorts.

The Masaka Christmas tree was a statement. First of all, it delivered a Christmas message (the birth of Jesus Christ). Secondly, it portrayed the economic activity in the area. Thirdly, it revealed political sentiments in the area.

Otherwise, the Masaka 2021 Christmas tree caused unprecedented excitement among the locals. Children gathered around the specially decorated Christmas tree, while they danced and others prostrating.

In simple terms, the Masaka Christmas tree was contumely; a sign of contempt.

Meanwhile, The Drone Media has learnt that yesterday afternoon, the author and political activist, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija was again violently kidnapped by plain clothed operatives who broke into his house.

Kakwenza is always critical of the NRM government in word and speech; he writes the truth that always sting individuals as a result he finds himself in the hands of operatives.

This brother has faced the wrath of the regime a number of times, at one point was being held in a safe house where he was reportedly gruesomely tortured. We are told he is being held in a safe house in Mbuya, for making critical comments about Gen. Museveni’s son.

It should be understood that even if Kakwenza stopped writing, at one time what he writes will come out.

Such actions  bring temporary silence, but they are only emboldening more people to come out and raise voices against violation of human rights.
