Mwesigwa Rukutana detained over shooting in Ruhama

Police in Ntungamo has this afternoon arrested and detained Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana together with his three escorts following a shooting incident in Ruhama, Ntungamo district in which one person was seriously injured and a motor vehicle damaged.
“The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition while the suspects are in detention on charges of inciting violence, attempted murder by shooting and malicious damage,” the Deputy PRO of Uganda Police Force, ACP Polly Namaye revealed.
Other sources have told The Drone Media that President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the immediate arrest of Mwesigwa Rukutana, the Former Deputy Attorney General & Current  State Minister  for Labour and Gender in the NRM government, who shot one person dead and left others battling with severe injuries.
Mbu Mwesigwa Rukutana got annoyed yesterday during the NRM Primary elections when he was denied votes to hold flag for Rushenyi County as an MP.  He reportedly grabbed a gun (AK 47) from his bodyguard, which he squeezed its trigger shooting at the people .
Earlier on today the UPDF Army Spokesperson Brig.Gen Flavia Byekwaso , had said that Rukutana was on wanted and would be apprehended very soon to face the rule of law .
Unconfirmed reports say Rukutana was arrested while crossing the border to Rwanda. Rukutana was this morning pictured in an ugly shooting incident in which a voter was earlier reported to have died.

However, the current information indicate that the voter in question Dan Rwaburingyi has died after nursing head injuries caused by a bullet lodged in his head.
Rukutana lost the vote for Rushenyi constituency in the NRM Primaries to incumbent MP and strong challenger Naome Kabasharira.

Another source has told The Drone Media that Rukutana was arrested while crossing into Rwanda.

“He was arrested by a combined force of SFC, CMI,ISO,ESO and police. He is to answer charges not limited to attempted murder, treason ,aggravated Robbery, espionage and plundering of Uganda’s resources,” the source revealed.
