By Correspondent

Police in Sheema district are holding three UPDF veterans for allegedly embezzling Shs. 15 million from the Emyooga government program.

The three are Onan Mwijukye, the Chairman of Sheema North Veterans Association, Johnson Asiimwe the Sacco Secretary and James Asiimwe the Treasurer.

The three were arrested on Tuesday on the orders of Frank Besigye Kyerere, the Sheema RDC.

Bernard Muhairwe the association vice chairperson says Mwijukye and his colleagues went as far as registering their wives as members of the Sacco although they are not veterans.

He added that that Sacco’s leadership first withdrew Shs 12million from the account for disbursement to member projects, and later 11 million.

Later however, he says the members were stunned to find that the Shs 15 million which was remaining on the account went missing mysteriously.

RDC Kyerere says the trio was arrested for questioning about the whereabouts of the said Ugx. 15 million.
