DR Congo’s Kabira steps down today

Democratic Republic of Congo’s strongman has agreed to step down and named a successor who must be nominated today.

The successor is Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, the former Minister of Internal Affairs. DRC has never seen peaceful transfer of power since 1960. This is historic and President Joseph Kabila Kabange must be congratulated.

This is after 17 years in power.  Joseph Kabila retires and has picked up a successor in Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary.

Shadary  is a Kabila loyalist, and former Interior minister.  His tenure as interior minister was marked by a violent crackdown on opposition politicians and their supporters, and the arrest of activists.

Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary is a politician in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who is a presidential candidate in the upcoming December 2018 Presidential Elections in that Central African country.

He was selected following consultations within the ruling People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) political party and the Common Front for Congo (FCC), political coalition.

Shadary is the permanent secretary of the PPRD, and has previously served as the country’s Interior Minister.

He was born November 29, 1960. Therefore, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary is 57 years of age. He was born in Kasongo, Maniema Province,  Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Joseph Kabila spent much of his youthful life in Kampala. According to his friend Rasta Rob aka Robert Ogwal, he lived in Makindye.
At the time, Rastas Rob was on nob (today you call it podium). Someone would be lucky to hang out with him. He was a popular DJ and was highly paid and we assume he had cash to spend.
