Assailants attack Security in Kapeeka

Assailants attacked security officers last night in Kapeeka Town. It is alleged that two officers including a UPDF soldier were shot dead.

The attack occurred at around 10:40pm on Saturday night. Retired Captain Yahaya Kakooza the Nakaseke Resident District Commissioner said that the assailants attacked the joint security team on patrol and opened fire on them.

Kakooza explained that in the attack ,a UPDF soldier was shot dead but the security team comprising of Police and UPDF Soldiers fired back killing one assailant on the spot. Kakooza said that the security team also recovered one gun that was used in the attack.

Police said two of the assailants were also shot dead in the 10:45pm gunfire exchange. It is alleged that unknown people armed with a gun attacked security personnel consisting of both UPDF and police who were on a joint patrol at Kapeeka play ground where there was a music show.

According to streaming in info, the assailants shot at the patrollers and killed one UPDF personnel by names of Pte Tufeyo Obed attached to Namunkekela army detach. The patrollers retaliated by shooting the assailants and killing two assailants and thereafter recovered one gun.

The assailants were reportedly not readily identified, as they awaited for scene of crime officers to manage the scene. Mbu the scene of crime was visited by a team of police and army officers led by the Nakaseke DPC, commander flying squad Savannah.

Moses Ssenfima, the Kapeeka LC3 Chairperson told this publication that the shooting happened at a music show organized under Sikyomu Concert at Kapeeka playground.

This is second attack in Greater Luwero districts.

On the 31st October this year, a gang of armed assailants attacked Busiika Police Station in Luwero district, shot dead two police officers on the spot and a third died days later in hospital, whereas one was critically injured.
