Ever got financial advice from a rich man?

What is the wisest financial advice you have heard from a rich person? It is common knowledge that rich men do not give financial ideas or concepts; mbu they always steal poor men’s concempts.

Well, they say that if a poor man conceives his idea he runs to a rich man to borrow money to implement it. Unfortunately, the rich man will ask them the purpose of the maoney they are borrowing. Upon telling the rich man the purpose, he will immediately change the goal posts.

Anyway, the wisest advice that I ever received was when I was a little boy. I went to work with my uncle. My uncle worked as a gardener for one of the richest men in my hometown. I grew up in Ntinda, Kampala.

One day, while I was working in the lawn helping my uncle, the gentlemen came up to me and started giving me words of wisdom.

He was an elderly gentleman about 60 years old. One thing that I have learned in my life, old people love to share their wisdom. This rich old gentleman loved to give advice.

He said, “Son let me give you some good advice. Never loan money to anyone, unless you want to make them an enemy. People don’t pay back.”

I have followed this advice all my life. I don’t loan anybody money.

I have a certain amount of money that I give away each year to various individuals. This is how I deal with people in need of money. I have a defined yearly budget for charity to people in need.

But, I don’t loan money. People don’t pay back. That’s the advice I want to now pass on to you.

Heed this advice because it will save you a lot of money and a lot of heartache. In addition, it will keep you from turning friends into enemies.
