Godfrey Aine Kaguta Sodo steps down from Mawogola North Mp race

By Our Correspondent

News reaching our desk is that Godfrey Aine Kaguta Sodo, President Museveni’s youngest brother has withdrawn from the Mawogola North MP race, just hours to the polling day.

A source close to the contesting parties has intimated to this website that this comes after several meetings; which resulted into this surprising decision.

Another source also close to the constituents, has revealed to this website that wads of cash exchanged hands; leaving Kutesa’ daughter; M/s Shartis Musherure Kutesa, in the race.

Shartis Musherure Kutesa

Shartis Musherure Kutesa, one of the candidates vying for Mawogola North Parliamentary seat in Sembabule District, promised the voters to regularly attend parliamentary sessions unlike her father Hon. Sam Kutesa.

Musherure’s bid to succeed her father Hon Sam Kutesa as Mawogola North MP in Sembabule District received a boost after her in-law Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba rallied behind her.

Yet, Sodo Aine is an uncle to Lt. Gen. Muhoozi this blood relation brought the political race to a stand off. The two parties; Shartis Musherure and Sodo Aine, almost murdered themselves during the National Resistance Movement (NRM)primaries.  There were counter accusations of violence among the agents of the candidates, who involved army officers.  The conflicts could not be sorted out by then until now when money has spoken.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is married to Musherure’s twin sister Charlotte, reportedly said Musherure is not a thief, probably pointing an accusing finger to his uncle, who many accused of stealing President Museveni’s cows before he got married.

“I am an army officer not a politician. Musherure is my in-law. She is a twin sister to my wife and what I know about her is that,  she is religious, trustworthy and not a thief,” Gen. Muhoozi reportedly told the gathering that also included Hon Sam Kutesa.
