NUP Members of Parliament Hon. Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Hon. Mohammed Ssegirinya of Kawempe North have been remanded to Kitalya Prisons until the 15th of this month over Masaka murders.

The two  yesterday appeared at Masaka District Police Headquarters for statement recording, as the masterminds behind the vicious murders in Masaka and have been remanded to prison after appearing in court today.

Police yesterday revealed that the machete wielding criminals were recruited by the two MPs to commit the atrocities in Masaka which have left close to 30 people dead.

“The suspects in our admissions clearly indicate how they were recruited, taken through the intentionally designed plans in a meeting at Ndeeba, and create animosity against elderly victims, who do not share their views,” the statement by police reads in parts.

The statement adds that “the suspects were promised wealth as a motivating factor.  And that it is under the command of the two politicians that the victims were hacked and beaten to death.  It is further alleged that the politicians facilitated the movement of the assailants and induced them to commit the atrocities against their victims”.

The confessions by the machete gang members(Kijjambiyas) clearly indicate that the opposition NUP insitigated the killings in Masaka as one of their ways of “removing a dictator” by portraying that security has failed to protect people.

No wonder every member of NUP has come out to criticize security and government in general on the Masaka issue to enhance their plan.
