Hon. Ssegirinya takes his jokes too far

By Jackson Oboth

Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya has taken his jokes to far. The elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North is seen carrying two bags of posho in the name of making news for supporting the vulnerable.
The story is that a single mother of two who had given up life and was planning to commit suicide with her two children in their mud and wattle shack in the back end of Kawempe ghettos.
She had spent three days on empty stomach. One of her children blazing hot with malaria. Holding the sick child tightly she had sung songs of sorrows as she cried her eye sockets dry.
A by passer had seen her rocking the baby as she released melancholies sounds. The by passer had stopped to great and to inquire about the family. She turned to look at him. Her eyes red with grief, she had nodded back her greetings. The by passer had noted misery and helplessness in her eyes. He continued with his walk but the pitiful sight of the woman remained with him.
A few blocks away he had met Hon. Ssegirinya on his rescue mission to his needy constituents. The by-passer called out to the philanthropically honorable and passed on the information about a starving woman with a sick child. The honorable quickly asked to be led to her home.
The rest as they say, is a story for another day. A hearty meal for the family, and some cash to treat the sick child brought hope back in the hopeless body of the young woman.
“Today I have seen God’s Angel visit me” she is reported to have said. She is also reported to have confessed her decision to end it all with a rat poison.
Wasn’t it Jesus Himself who said that “when you do it to the least of my people you do it for me?” (Mathew 25:40) May God bless the kind people who continue to bring hope to the people in a helpless world.
