I am still waiting for my party’s decision-Jacob Oulanyah

By Angela Nyakuni

Jacob L. Oulanyah who has been the Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan parliament since 19th May 2011, says he has not kick-started campaigns for the hotly contested seat of the Speaker of Parliament because he is still waiting for his party’s decision.

He says, ” In 2016, my party told me to step aside so that the status quo is maintained  and told me to wait for 2021. The time has come and hopefully they will fulfill their promise. This is the reason I am not campaigning nor forming any task forces. I am still waiting for my party’s decision.”

Basically this is Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s mind. However, this leaves ordinary Ugandans thinking. Was NRM party sure that Jacob Oulanya and Rebecca Kadaga, would make?  Besides, was this a verbal agreement or written? Thirdly, where is credibility?

Anyway, the truth is that in 2016, Jacob Oulanyah was taking the seat, but this time it might be a case of prayers.  Jacob Oulanyah, who is an agricultural economist, lawyer and politician,  is also the member of parliament representing the Omoro County constituency, in Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in the Uganda’s Northern Region. He is a member of National Resistance Movement (NRM) and is believed to have played a big role in the votes of his region.
