Kigaragara LCI needs Anti -corruption intervention

If you do not know Kigaragara, it is a village located in Kagera Region, between Karagwe in Northern Tanzania and Isingiro District in Uganda. It is part of Bukanga County, Kashumba Sub-county and is represented by Hon Nathan Byanyima in the 11th Parliament of Uganda.

Kigaragara is very unfortunate it lacks leaders.  It is stuck with LCI criminal leaders. The Local Council One (LCI) of Kigaragara is headed by criminals.  A one Eliazari Mwesigye, who is Vice Chairperson reportedly murdered his step mother, Nyangoma.  It is said that Mwesigye who wanted to take Nyangoma’s land and plantation, personally participated in butchering his mother in broad day light. This story is on every villager’s lips, but Mwesigye who survived prison due to lack of follow up of the murder of his step mother manouevred  and became a vice chairperson of Kigaragara LCI.

The chairperson of Kigaragara LCI is always in Land fraud. He is popularly known as NIKO aka Nicholas Buhooro.  Currently, Niko has several criminal cases at Kashumba Police Post, but the most recent include Threatening Violence ( he reportedly threatened to kill someone who pinned him on land fraud). He is also accused of Criminal Tresspass, he reportedly occuppied someone’s land/plantation, using his LCI office.

These two officials have reportedly been misusing the office stamp to fraudulently misplace bonafide plantation owners and with a corrupt lineage and connections at police, cases have not been forwarded to Resident State Attorney (RSA) to be sanctioned.  Since this has come into limelight,  authorities will intervene and help the village that has been stuck with criminal leaders.
