Kakajjo residents tired of eating faeces

Kakajjo residents in Bukesa, Kampala Central Division, say they are tired of eating feces. The angry residents are mobilizing signatures to sue authorities responsible for their suffering.

According to Local Council (LC I) Chairman, Joseph Mulindwa Acaali, the sewers that were in place were very small and some people added other connections illegally.

Acaali did not name people who illegally added sewers. Snoops gathered from residents that Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) officials in conjunction with corrupt officials from National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) did connect the illegal sewers.

Today, the cry of residents is, ‘ we are tired of eating faeces.” The sewages flows from the man holes to the whole village along the paths. Shockingly, the sewage is right next to food stands and other eateries.

Residents told The Drone Media that Sir Apollo Kagwa Primary School, proprietor was the first culprit in this illegal connection of sewers.

“What is annoying is that these people knew that the number of users was too big for the existing main sewers but they connected it a school that boasts of 1500 pupils!” Isma Kasozi, a resident, asserts.

Furthermore, residents cry over K Hotel that sits on the sewers. They say the building that was erected while KCCA officials were regular visitors in authority’s pick up trucks at the site, is in the road reserve and bad enough it blocks sewage.

K Hotel that was not in existence is also connected to the other smaller sewers.

Actually, the residents have vowed not to sleep until this impunity is sorted.

“This is impunity. Otherwise who does not see that the building is in the road and seated on sewers?” Karamuzi Dismond, asks.

When The Drone Media visited the scene, sewage was flowing like River Rwizi. Some of the vexed residents mistook the poor journalists with KCCA officials. They poured their hearts out.
