How Chameleone failed to spy on Bobi
Towards the election, singer Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleone went to Kamwokya for a ticket to stand for Kampala Mayor as the National Unity Platform(NUP) candidate.
The party’s principal, Bobi Wine, doubted Chameleone’s sincerity. See, Chameleone had in 2016 led a group of musicians to compose a campaign song for the NRM Presidential Candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Bobi had, on the other hand, stood with Dr Kiiza Besigye through thick and thin in that election which Kaguta Tibuhaburwa went ahead to controversially win.
While Bobi haboured misgivings towards Chameleone’s sincerity as far as standing for Kampala mayorship on NUP ticket was concerned, he gave the fellow singer a second chance.
Bobi told Chameleone to go and compose a song distancing himself from Kaguta as a precondition for handing him the ticket he was seeking.
Chameleone swiftly composed and outed the song. He returned to Kamwokya for the ticket, but Bobi had cautioned his people not to rush to issue the ticket to Chameleone.
Meanwhile, Chameleone kept pestering Bobi’s people at Kamwokya to issue him the ticket, but they kept referring him to the principal who, they said, was handling him as a special case!
In between, Bobi was clandestinely investigating Chameleone’s link with Kaguta. In the process of Investigating Chameleone, Bobi talked to his moles in Kaguta’s camp, who confirmed to him the singer was a mole sent to Kamwokya to disorganize NUP and him as the party’s presidential candidate!
Bobi also talked to his moles in DP. Chameleone had prior to going to Kamwokya gone to DP seeking for a ticket to stand as it’s mayoral candidate!
So, Bobi wanted to find out why Chameleone had backtracked from DP where, moreover, his moles had informed him, the singer stood very high chances of obtaining the ticket he was now pestering him to give him!
Bobi’s moles in DP informed him how a big person in DP was actually working with Kaguta to disorganize him. That the big DP person had advised Kaguta to send Chameleone to Kamwokya to spy on Bobi and his camp under the guise of seeking for NUP’s ticket!
Bobi was alarmed! He quickly contacted NUP’s secretary general, Davis Lewis Rubongoya and broke the news to him.
This is how Chameleone innocently helped Kamwokya to know his political romance with Museveni! And by the way, this is exactly how Chameleone sealed his fate as far as handing him and fellow disguised Kaguta’s moles NUP’s party flags, was concerned!
Bobi and Rubongoya using Chameleone’s leaked espionage case, decided now to subject the people seeking the party’s tickets to a thorough investigation as well as vetting.
This is how majority of the moles disguising as NUP party flag seekers ended up frustrated and either left silently or waited to be defeated. They then started spreading propaganda how Bobi was selling party tickets or doling them out to relatives, friends and in-laws, looking to malign him.
Seeing that his goose was now cooked with the introduction of a thorough investigation and vetting of candidates, Chameleone returned from whence he had come ( DP) and gone on a mission to disorganize Bobi and NUP!
In spite of the fact that Chameleone had unceremoniously left DP for Bobi. The big people in the party warmly welcomed the singer back. Quickly, they handed him the party flag and the other big person even gifted the singer with the job of special mobilizer!
Chameleon has since revealed his true colors by returning to Kaguta who actually gifted him with a powerful car!
Fortunately and tellingly, the Chameleone has since revealed how he has never ever belonged to either DP or NUP but that Kaguta is his one and only love! Oh, Chameleons!
