A Makerere University fresh graduate is scheduled to meet President Museveni over poem

A Makerere University fresh graduate, who wrote a poem in which she highlighted several issues she would want to be addressed, is to meet with President Yoweri Museveni.

Sources confirmed that Annah Ashaba met with the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) officials led by the deputy Director General, Lt. Col. Emmy Katabazi, over the weekend.

Following her erotic poem, Ashaba was summoned by ISO, and sources said; “after listening to her, they decided to seek a meeting for her with the President.”

In the poem which Ashaba titled ‘I want to be Museveni’s side chic’, the graduate of Bachelor of Arts Degree with Education, highlights several issues that she says she would want the President to address if she got the opportunity to meet the head of state.

Among other things, the graduate who majored in English language and Literature said she wants to ask the President to re-open schools and remove the 12% tax on data.

After the Saturday (October 9) meeting, Ashaba used social media to heap praises on ISO operatives for the civility with which she was treated when they summoned her over the poem.

“Yesterday (Saturday), I met with the DDG of ISO Lt. Col. Emmy Katabazi. I appreciate the dialogical approach and civility he used in regard to my poem “I want to be Museveni’s side chic”. We can always agree to disagree without fear of torture, blackmail, drones and prison,” she posted on Sunday (October 10).
