When the government plotted to hire the Cuban doctors, it never thought about the army. This was because the authorities supposed it was fine among the military medical personnel.
However, it has turned out that there as much grievances among Military medical personnel as they are in civilian medical personnel.
This website has been contacted to air out, in an orderly manner, the grievances of military medical personnel for not earning up to the salary scale as gazzated for all Uganda medical professionals for financial year 2018/19.
These military medical personnel are always occupied, serving their country wherever they are called upon to serve especially emergence cases. Surprisingly, according to their letter to this website, they were left out in the financial year 2018/19.
“As military medical fraternity, we are slated to put down our tools and may thereafter seek for better pay else where for having not been considered to earn salary up to the scale as was proposed,passed and gazzated for financial year 2018/19,” the letter to this website stated.
The letter further pointed that it was noticed that their counterparts in Uganda prisons, Uganda Police Force and those in civilian medical services have already started earning it, yet they were ignored.
‘This is therefore to notify the public that it’s time we are putting down our tools if not considered and reimbursed with the arrears to level with our fellow medical personnel since we all attended same schools for the same period of time and earned the same qualifications,” part of the letter read.
In the letter they cited examples of emergence cases they have been called upon to rescue the government and they did it tirelessly.
“Remember when civilian medics were on strike, we took risk and sacrifice as we have always done for the good of our country,” the military medical personnel reminded authorities.
