Mbarara Central Police reportedly denied four sureties, Kahinda Otafire, Jim Muhwezi, Ben Kavuya and Bob Kabonero to access police bond for Minister Mwesigwa Rukuntana on Saturday, 5th September 2020.
Rukuntana was arrested and detained with his three bodyguards and driver, following the circulating video on social media, while he was grabbing and later cocked a gun from hands of the police officer.
According to Rwizi region deputy PRO, Samson Kusasira, Rukuntana will be taken to court because no person is above the law, following President Museveni’s orders of arrest.
Kusasira refuted the allegations that Dan Rwaburingyi died, but he just sustained severe injuries on the head.
The video clip circulating shows the angry Rukutana grabbing a gun, but no fire bullets are heard.
The incumbent, Member of Parliament, Rushenyi County, Ntungamo District, Hon Mwesigwa Rukuntana severely lost in National Resistance Movement NRM primaries to Noami Kabasharira, who won the primaries to hold the party flag in 2021 Parliamentary General Elections.
Minister Mwesigwa Rukuntana falls in most trusted men of President Museveni, he has been heard in different sagas including, Uganda Telcom Limited (UTL) with Evelyn Anite for intention of taking over company’s assets and Land Probe Commission with Catherine Bamugemereire, when he advised her to rather report him to God, because even pope can’t discipline him.
Apparently, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) boss, Grace Akullo, has taken over investigations into the shooting matter of Rukuntana’s opponents at National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.
By press time the family of the state minister for labour, Mwesigwa Rukutana, had camped outside Mbarara Central Police station, demanding his release.
The public is enraged,  SsekabiraRogers says, “Should all families with prisoners do the same? How arrogant! Who is he? a god?”
Agatha Fari Kasule says, That’s how exactly they will be camping on the gates of hell to pay for their deeds.”
