Nakalembe makes it 6 out of 6 at Entebbe Ladies Open

Irene Nakalembe hoists the Entebbe Ladies trophy for a record sixth time

Entebbe Lady Golfer Irene Nakalembe, completed her record at the 10 th Castle Lite sponsored Entebbe Ladies Open on Saturday winning her sixth title in a row at the par 71 lake side course.

The national ladies captain was in unstoppable form on the 18 hole course leading from Day 1 on Friday with 3 over par 74 and going one better the final round with a 2 over par 73 and a total of 147 gross thus winning by 5 strokes and beating Kenya’s Mercy Nyanchama, who returned with a 152 gross score.

“I feel happy and excited for this victory,” the CIC Insurance sponsored golfer noted at the 18th green after hoisting her sixth crown on her home course. “It was a tough hurdle for me but I am thankful to God. I thank Castle Lite for sponsoring this tournament and my personal sponsor CIC Insurance my target is to win the Uganda Ladies Open in September.”

Toro club’s Peace Kabasweka and Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Eva Magala returned scores of 156 gross and tied for third.
While 2019 Lady golfer of the year Martha Babirye returned 81 and 79 over 36 holes with a total of 160 gross to finish fifth.

Nile Breweries under their popular brand Castle Lite were the main sponsors and other sponsors included Roke Telecom, Britam Insurance, CBA Uganda, Pinnacle Security and Trendy Strands.

The tournament attracted lady golfers from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It’s a Uganda Ladies Golf Union event that is organized by the Lady Captain Rita Apell at East Africa’s oldest club.
