NSSF Money curse is biting them hard

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) curse is biting them hard. Whoever is reading this should know that workers’ money is protected by God’s curse.

Therefore, whoever plays dirty games with workers’ money will always share the curse. This is what is happening between the Gender Ministry Minister and the former Director of NSSF, Richard Byarugaba. They are in chicken fight because they failed to share the loot.

The Drone Media visited Richard Byarugaba after the 11th Parliament passed the 2021 Amendment Act, which allowed workers to access their mid-term savings.  Surprisingly, Byarugaba had tactfully played with the law. He drafted, what he referred to as administrative rules, which barred savers who had saved for 10 years, but not contributed consecutively for 10 years from accessing their savings!

This is what created the sh6bn they are fighting for today! Byarugaba thought savers had no protector, yet God the Almighty is their protector. He has been paid in the right cjurrency. The former Director helped the corrupt to swindle savers’ money, but he is now crying foul!

Early this year the Ministry of Gender said savers would get their midterm access to NSSF savings after finalizing with some nitty gritty including the statutory instrument that allowed the payments.

That followed President Museveni’s assent to the amended National Social Security Fund Bill 2021, which allowed workers who have saved for over 10 years and have reached 45 years of age to access 20% midterm savings with NSSF.

Many savers were excited with the development and a number of whom suggested that they could access their savings to allow them go through their financial woes.

The Minister for Gender, Betty Amongi said the amended act would only come into force upon its publication in the Ugandan Gazette, an action she said would soon be implemented.

“The provision regarding midterm access to benefits by qualifying members of the Fund shall come into effect after I have issued a statutory instrument that will guide on the terms and conditions, and procedures for accessing benefits. I am required by the Act to issue this instrument and lay the same before Parliament for information within 60 days after publication of the Act in the Uganda Gazette,”Amongi said.

The Statutory Instrument she referred to above were devised tricks to deny savers their savings, which later created more than sh6bn that has now caused war.
