NBS is being strangled by NUP as if there is no law!

It is not right! Yes, it is not right for an entity like National Unity Platform (NUP) or an individual like NUP leader to use his influence to hurt a bona fide media outlet.

The accusation by the leader of NUP, which claims NBS did broadcast provisional results that put Presidential Candidate Yoweri Tubuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni in lead; is unfortunate. It shows how frustrated and desperate Uganda’s opposite is.

Besides, why is NUP and its supporters using dictatorial measures to gain forceful sympathy? What the supporters of NUP are doing is against the law. They are inciting violence against NBS; under the Computer Misuse Act 2011 (Act No. 2 of 2011), they should be prosecuted.

This Act makes provision for the safety and security of electronic transactions and information systems; to prevent unlawful access, abuse or misuse of information systems including computers and to make provision for securing the conduct of electronic transactions in a trustworthy electronic environment and to provide .

Yet with or without knowledge, the supporters of NUP are committing this criminal offence all the time. Surprisingly, they are being praised by gullible Ugandans.

There are many offences committed by these rowdy supporters; including human rights violations.  Bad enough, they always want to portray themselves as the oppressed and tortured lot. Yet they are torturing bona fine citizens; instead of going for the actual opponents ( authorities).

Why would you incite your supporters against a media channel that is doing its work? Let journalists do their work; musicians sing meaningful songs and politicians pedal their lies, but inciting the public against media, is violation of human rights and against law.

Act 2 of Computer Misuse Act 2011, specifies the computer misuse offences as  unauthorized access to computer;  access with intent to commit or facilitate commission of further offence etc This gives you background information about the NUP vs NBS bickering.
