Boda boda riders have lynched UN driver at Mengo

Boda boda riders have lynched UN driver at Mengo, Katale in Kampala. The Deputy PRO KMP, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed the incident.
Owoyesigyire says the territorial police at Old Kampala is investigating this murder by mob justice against Aziz Bashir, 40, a former driver with United Nations and also resident of Mengo.
The murder, according to Owoyesigyire, happened on 17.10.2021 at about 7am at Mengo-Katale. He says it originated from a minor accident caused by a boda boda rider while the deceased was driving his motor vehicle UBK 393D.  The reportedly got involved in a minor accident with an unidentified motorcycle rider.
The deceased got out of his vehicle, but failed to agree with the motorcycle rider.  It is from there that two motorcycles shielded the offending rider, who was involved in a traffic accident with Bashir.
Subtly, the rider left the scene, but in an effort of the deceased pursuing the alleged rider, he knocked another motorcycle rider.
That is when riders ganged up on him as he was approaching Lyna Primary School. He was pulled out of the vehicle and lynched by the boda boda group to death .
We have embarked on viewing CCTV footages to identify the riders who could have carried out the criminal act.
Two suspects have so far been arrested in connection to the murder.

Owoyesigyire says the motorcycle involved in the accident UEJ 515K and the deceased’s motor vehicle were recovered (vandalized)and are now parked at Old Kampala Police while the body of the deceased was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a postmortem.
“We also condemn acts of mob justice as they offer no solution to any problem and are illegal by law .
We will provide more details about the incident in due course,” asserts Owoyesigyire.
