Police in madoadoa uniform continue to harrass

Madoadoa police mishandling Mzee

This morning the police dressed in madoadoa uniform and led by a one Sande forced attendants of Hello Mobile shop on Kampala Road next to Simba Telecom, to close.

The Commander of the group, who only had one name, Sande, stitched on his
left hand side with no Uganda Police Force’s number, claimed he was following the president’s directive.

However, the manager explained that Honourable Amelia Kyambadde, Minister of Trade and Industries, yesterday addressed the nation to explain these anomalies.

Surprisingly, Sande and his group in chorus answered, “Who is Amelia?” They
thereafter became violent and threatened to beat whoever was trying to interpret what was said by authorities.

The madoadoa police officers were overheard praising Local Defense Units (LDUs), saying they are right to shoot people because they argue with them. Fortunately, one of the affected traders, Charles Balinda, rung Central Police Station and the answer he got was that the officers were not supposed to close  shops.

The president’s directive was clear, he said that shops in markets, which are selling non-food stuffs, should not be allowed to operate. Hon. Amelia yesterday added her voice to explain these anomalies brought about by police officers.

M/s Amelia said that the issue was to reduce congest but not what is being sold. The minister of trade and industries, explained about the issue of arresting people carrying beers.

She said that the president closed bars because they attract congestion, but if a person is buying his/her beers from a depot and taking it home, you cannot arrest them. She emphathized that malls and supermarkets were to remain
open but watch for congestion.

Surprisingly, police did not follow it. The Drone Media observed the attitute of the police officers who were forcing shops to close; they harboured corrupt intentions.

They wanted traders to see them in camera so that they cannot close their shops. This same thing was happening in Kosovo, Nakulabye, Kasubi and other areas. Police was impounding beers. People wondered if the president’s directives were stopping citizens from drinking beers!
