No bus driver is allowed without badge
Effective May 1st, 2023, the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety will begin enforcing the use of driver badges for all bus drivers.
We strongly urge all bus operators to promptly obtain their driver badges from the Ministry of Works and Transport. From May 1st, 2023 onwards, no bus driver will be permitted to operate on the road without a valid driver badge.
ASP Nampiima Faridah, the PRO Traffic Directorate, says police kindly requests that bus operators refrain from allowing drivers without badges to drive their buses, in order to prevent any inconvenience.Nampiima thanked Ugandans for their cooperation in ensuring the safety and compliance of local roads.
However, this is a second time police is using such language. Early in January, 2023 Afanda Nampiima said, “Effective yesterday 16/01/2023 every bus driver driving on road is expected to display his photo in the bus, have a copy of the badge which has his photo, name, driving license number and classes, and the bus company he is operating.”
Mbu each bus company must have an independent rout chart, bus owners are reminded to operate their buses within the prescribed time issued out on the route charts, no bus will be allowed to operate on road out of time.
Any bus found on road operating without a badge and route chart will be impounded
and the driver will be arrested.
