Achai Wiir gives Jose Chameleone a Mpenkoni

Achai Wiir

The South Sudan businesswoman, Achai Wiir, who gave Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone a sleek car known locally as Mpenkoni, runs a beauty contest business in her home country among other businesses.

She reportedly gifted  the Ugandan musician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone a brand new Toyota V8 two years ago. This was after a music show that Chameleone termed as “The biggest Showdown in 2018.”

This means Jose Chameleone has been with his gift for one and half years without clearance from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), which towed it last week over lack of proper papers and taxes.

Well, Achai is known for her kindness and generosity; she has been giving local musicians in Juba vehicles as gifts. In fact, the South Sudan musicians have taken to composing songs about her kind heart and how she gifts people with cars. She is rumoured to be connected to the presidency.

Chameleone went an extra mile to compose a song for the business lady titled “Achai Wiir”. The singer said it was a special song for “my special friend” on her wedding.

Achai’s wedding was in September, 2018 at Freedom Hall in the capital Juba. Sources say it was the most extravagant and one of the most expensive weddings ever done in South Sudan.

There was a convoy of 25 Toyota V8s for each bridesmaid and over 30 other cars. The wedding ran from Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

In the song composed for this event, Chameleone asks God to bless Achai and her family.

Initially, Chameleone was to perform at this wedding but missed out. He performed three months after the wedding and the special song was highlighted.

Achai owns business chains under her Achai Wiir name including; Achai Wiir Supermarket, a Kids Boutique, Achai Wiir Gentlemen Boutique and Achai Wiir Restaurant, among others. She also runs Miss Achai Wiir Beauty Contest.

After being gifted the brand new vehicle, Chameleone chose to drive back to Uganda in his new car. Sources say he refused to return by air.

He was quoted assuring Ugandans thus: “I know Ugandans here are jealous of me now. This is not Uganda.” He declared South Sudan as his second home.
