Woman held over alleged murder of co wife

Murder in Kanungu: Police in Kanungu has arrested a woman for allegedly murder of her co wife .

The deceased, a co wife has been identified as Ester Kyomuhendo 30 years old while the suspect is Christine Saturday 35 years both Residents of Mukono village, Southern Ward, Buhooma Town council in Kanungu district.

Elly Maate Kigezi Regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident noting that a report was filed by the area chairperson Bernard Ndyenaku 60 yrs.

According to Bernard it’s alleged that on 14/01/2023 at around 12:30pm, the two met and fought over a man when the deceased had gone to visit the mother in law but still in court ship with the man who is already married to the suspect.

Police at Butogota police station was notified, alerted Cps Kanungu and the crime scene was visited by a team of detectives headed by D/Asp Dusabe Innocent the D/CID/O, the body was taken to Bwindi community hospital pending postmortem and suspect was arrested.As Inquiries are underway.

The deceased lost her husband last year in a vehicle accident at Kyeshero near Donart’s banana plantantion last year. It’s alleged that in 2022 mid year, she started a relationship with the suspects husband which did not please the suspect and she vowed to avenge after so many times warning her to leave her husband alone.

When the suspect heard that the deceased Easter Kyomuhendo was planning to marry her husband she couldn’t take it and plotted to finish her off. She went with a hammer and hit her in the head that caused her immediate death. According to the eye witnesses the women started by quarrelling and latter un expectedly the other one was hit in the head with the hammer. To take her to the hospital she was already dead.

The suspect who is now detained at Butogota police station will be transfered to Kanungu.
