The NRM’s EC Boss Dr. Tanga Odoi  is sad and blue.  The equally cantankerous Odoi has narrated how  a minister in President Museveni’s government called him names and threatened to have him fired for failing to stay the Mawogola Parliamentary Primaries.
Speaking to Ssembabule district NRM leaders from both Mawogola North and West, Tanga said that he received a lot of phone calls from this top minister who also is a top NRM leader in Mawogola North directing him to postpone the Mawogola North NRM’s parliamentary primaries to another date.
“I stood my ground even though I was abused by one of the senior citizens I have been respecting too much for a long time.
I told him that he was not the one who gave me this job, I know my specialty is not in elections but I’m doing my job very well, why do you want me to follow your instructions?
I told him that I’m ready to leave this office without following your instructions,” flamboyant Odoi told the Minister.
He added that before he took the big man’s instructions, he first consulted the security team in the area led by Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi, the Deputy Inspector General of Police who told him that there was no worrying situation that would lead to postponing the elections.
He explained that he went to Mawogola well knowing that the two families in Mawogola North that were in the race are very influential in the country’s politics that is why he was determined to do his work independently and follow the laws of the party and those of the country.
He further told the leaders of Mawogola that had he followed the instructions of the big man to postpone the elections, he was going to create a crisis and bloodshed in the area since people were determined to burn down the area.
He admitted to receiving a petition from Musherura Kutesa contesting the victory of Godffrey Aine Kaguta in Mawogola North and advised her to serve other contestants who were in the race so that they prepare their defense.
He pleaded with the winners and losers to work together to champion the interests of the NRM party.
