Sad news from Gulu District, Omoro County,  its former MP Hon. Simon Toolit has died. Toolit, died on Monday morning, however, details surrounding his death have not yet been elaborated.
The sad news of his death was confirmed by  Norbert Mao, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who eulogized the fallen politician, “I am saddened by the death of Hon. Simon Toolit former MP Omoro County and Gulu Chairman of FDC. He ventured into transport, farming and agroforestry. Last year he pulled off an amazing act of political self reinvention when he took up the NUP flag in the Omoro by elections. RIP.”
David Lewis Rubongoya says, “The passing of Hon. Toolit Simon Akecha at this time is both shocking and devastating. I last spoke to him a few days ago and he said he was not feeling well, but we were optimistic he would recover and take on his roles as Acting Head of Policy in the National Unity Platform (NUP) . The nation has lost an incredibly patriotic leader. May his soul rest in peace.”
Bobi Wine has this to say, ” It is with great sorrow that I have learnt of the untimely passing of our senior comrade and brother, Hon. Toolit Simon Akecha this afternoon at St. Mary’s Lacor Hospital in Gulu. Hon. Toolit carried our flag in the recent by-election in Omoro Constituency. He has also been the Acting Head of Policy and Research in the National Unity Platform. This is terrible news! It is very unfortunate that he has passed without seeing the justice and good governance which he so much struggled for, all his life.
Details regarding burial arrangements are being discussed with the family, and will be communicated in due course. May his soul rest in peace.”
Yet, at the end of the day, in the midst of his misery, while his home is atop a dunghill, Job cries out: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord” (1:21).
