Police soils Valentines’ rendezvous

By Angela Nyakuni

Kampala crazy lovers had planned to spoil themselves silly on Saturday, February 14; in the name of St. Valentines. The strategists put several adverts on social media as well as on fm radios while a few others placed them on Tvs, calling on lovers to join them in wild parties they had organized.

However, the noise the strategists (read promoters) made, thinking they would attract thousands of fans; awakened the authorities. Police has since warned the public against such gatherings, which claim are likely to spread the COVID-19.  The Drone Media has established that places like New Best Hotel, Busega; Honeyz Pub, Rubaga Road; and many places in Kabalagal and Kasanga, were gearing to the occasion.

Valentines day the Kampala way of celebrating it

As you read, police has issued a warning to those who will attend Valentines’ day events; the onus is on the attendees not the organizers, according to the police press release.

“We have read, listened and seen several advertisements both online and traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches and other open arenas to celebrate valentine’s day on February 14, 2021,” writes SP Patrick Onyango, PRO KMP.

Onyango says the Ministry of Health guidelines still stand and the COVID19 instruments: The Public Health (Control of COVID-19) rules, 2020, that was put in place to fight the spread of Coronavirus is still in operation.

“We want to warn the organizers of these parties to desist from breaking the law and stop advertising for the events.
We appeal to members of the public to report to us any party or event that breaches the Coronavirus regulations.
We also warn any person that will attend such events that will be arrested for breaching the laws,” Patrick Onyango asserts.

“The public should sit and wait for COVID-19 to disappear so that they can resume indulgence of their promiscuous acts; otherwise they are headed to hell if not Kitalia Mini-Prison,” David Kanyinondi, a social critique had this to say.
